
Tennessee has the 16th quarter released as a part of the 50 State Quarters Program. This coin features several items to depict the musical heritage of the state. The Tennessee Quarter shows a fiddle, for the bluegrass music of the mountains. It also has a guitar for the country music scene in Nashville, along with a trumpet that speaks to the blues and the Memphis area of the state. ‘Musical Heritage’ is on a banner below the musical instruments, and a sheet music book sits in the background.

In 1796, Tennessee was admitted as the 16th state to the Union, and it was home to many great political figures during its early years as a state.
This state is the birthplace of country music, and also had an essential role in rock and roll and blues music. Agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism are the major industries in the state, with tobacco and cotton being the primary crops. Tennessee is home to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is the most visited park in the country.
